CoronaVirus Back at it Again
The coronavirus(COVID) is spreading across the nation and is killing many people in its path. As of 3/15 the government has cut interest rates down to nearly nothing. Trump even spoke on the issue and how he agrees with the interest decreasing. There have been 3,100+ cases in the US and there have been 60 deaths. The government was not ready for this outbreak especially because Trump let go of the pandemic outbreak team that was set up by former President Barack Obama. The infectious disease president has been speaking around the US to help people learn how to sanitize and stay healthy. Airlines are one of the many things that are suffering. They have lost billions of dollars. People are swarming airports to try and get home so they can start their self quarantine. This is an issue since people are supposed to be avoiding large numbers of groups. They have cut off millions of flights that were expected to travel to europe. Airlines aren't the only travel chain that has been suspended. American Cruise lines have been suspended until further notice. The US is going to have to be ready for a huge rebound as soon as this is all over, and a recession may be closer than we think. Small businesses are suffering from the lack of people coming to buy their goods.
Europe Still Struggling to Stay Afloat
People in Europe are really struggling with the whole situation because there hasn't been a good number of tourism happening. With this shortage of business they are having to close stores and clear out streets all around the continent. Medical screenings are becoming mandatory for anyone traveling from one place to another. Europe is having a large number of cases of spiking and Italy and Spain have been called the epicenter for the coronavirus. However, this is not stopping people from standing together and trying to bring positivity to the community. People are joining together and singing out of their windows. This outbreak still has not stopped France from having its elections. According to CBS Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden had a debate without an audience last week.
Coronavirus continued
The corona virus has continued to shut down non essential business in america. Small businesses that can not offer everyday essentials are closed to limit contact, however, bars and restaurants remain open. They are only open for delivery and takeout, they are not allowed to open their seating areas for any customers. It is being suggested that people should self quarantine for the time being if they have symptoms or things that are common of the coronavirus. New York is continuously declining because people constantly interact with each other, and it doesn't help that there are so many people that love them. Schools are being shut down for the rest of the year, and are being moved to online only. This has become a problem for parents of young children who still have to go to work. Child care has become very scarce, and is limited to many families. However, teachers and other families are opening up their door for kids who have nowhere to go.
Small businesses still working?
Another smaller business that only operates in the winter season is struggling this business is the ski resorts. All the winter events have been cancelled because they do not want people getting together. This is creating a lot of financial problems for the workers and even customers. Big businesses and essential businesses are still thriving. Grocery stores and everyday essentials are being requested to stay open for people who need to buy things. One thing that people have been freaking out about is the lack of toilet paper. People are buying tons of toilet paper that they aren't even going to need. They are taking an essential thing that some people might need eventually, but are buying in bulk and are not sharing with people in need.
Blood It Flows Through All of Us
The American Red Cross is suffering just as much as any small business. There has been a blood shortage because worldwide blood drives have been halted to try and prevent the spread of the virus. The virus is not spread through the blood however, the contact that needs to be done to complete the giving of blood can spread the virus. The red cross is asking healthy people to come in and donate as much blood as they can because there are people still in need of it. Some of the many people who are in need of this blood are pregnant women, people who have gotten in car accidents, people who need immediate surgery, and people who just are just sick.
Past Pandemics
The past pandemics have all been significant in the timeline of the world. One of the most recent pandemic was the spanish flu that killed millions of people. Some other pandemics are Smallpox, Ebola, Black Plague, AIDS, and many more. Smallpox pandemic was the only pandemic that has been completely eradicated. Ebola hit the US in 2014 and it only affected 2 people, however, it killed millions of people in Africa and many parts of Europe. The Black Plague wiped out half of the world's populations and was named the worst pandemic. AIDS occured in the 1980’s and wiped out about 32 million people. This pandemic was spread through blood had mainly effected gay men. The Most recent pandemic was the H1N1 or also known as the swine flu. This pandemic occurred under the term of the former President Barack Obama. This is when he put in place the pandmeic team in the whitehouse.
Still Something Good
Not everything right now is all bad because there is a coffee shop in Dallas, Texas that is open to help foster kids that are or will be aging out of the system. This cafe is called Lala Land cafe of Hope. Teenagers that work here are learning how to work and be on their own. The owner says he doesn't care if he isn't becoming a billionaire because of his business he just wants to help these kids get their life on track so they can be successful. CBS interviewed one of the girls who said if it wasn't for this coffee shop she would be homeless and still living on the streets. This business has done something good for those in need, and will continue to do so.
