Week 11 News writing

Natalia Schack Comm 200 Prof Peter Lindmark March 29th 2020 Writing with voice and opinion is easy, however to find your voice within your writing isn't easy. I have struggled with finding what I am passionate about and then to write about it. One of the only things that comes easy to me is writing about politics. I am a democrat/liberal and I always will be. My parents have always raised my siblings and I with the mindset of making sure we can help whoever we can with our words or actions. I have always stood up for myself and others that could not. Words can speak louder than action, but only if they are used in the right way. I just do not agree with any of the things that republican follow or portray. With the politics side I like to use opinion based information. With this topic I want to write for the democratic or liberal audience because they will agree or relate with my writing, and hopefully they will want to help make a change in the world, or the government whi...

Week 11 Journal

Natalia Schack Comm200 Prof. Peter Lindmark March 27th, 2020 My choice of beat is going to be related to my current work situation. I currently work at Fleet Farm in Brooklyn Park, MN. I am a sales associate and recently portraying an internship in the marketing and HR department at Fleet Farm. I am really interested in helping others and making sure everyone gets the best experience they possibly can. I would definitely want to report on how businesses work and treat their employees. I know at my work place they do everything to ensure their employees are safe and getting what they need out of their jobs. I would connect with the HR employees, marketing employees, and the employees that work face-to-face with customers. I hope that this will lead me in the direction of my future career consulting companies and helping plan events and parties.  Derick Prelle CEO of Fleet Farm DerickPrelle@fleetfarm.com @butterflyequity.com @kkr.com media@fleetfarm.com. ...

Week 10

Natalia Schack Comm 200 Prof. Peter Lindmark March 23, 2020 Shattered Glass was a great movie that shows how people can tell lies upon lies and then they start to believe their own lies. Stephen Glass is a college student who has a full course load and works at The News Republic writing stories for the newspaper. Glass’s stories are so humorous and well written people didn't realize they were all fabricated by Steve himself. Throughout the firm it presented as if there was just a little something off about Stephen Glass and his mysterious stories. In the real story of Stephen Glass it says, “Glass would present other elaborate orchestrations of made-up scenes and characters, this time passing them off as journalism…, painfully insecure boy had won over the world of magazines with the vigor of his youth and his equally alluring vulnerability”. The article headlines were very interesting, and from experience this isn't the easiest task to accomplish, however Steve kept ...

Natalia Schack Prof. Peter Lindmark Comm200 Week 9 Journal March 13, 2020 https://www.ucrdatatool.gov/Search/Crime/State/TrendsInOneVar.cfm   For the first set of information I got off of the chart, based on the estimated burglary in New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, from 2009-2014. New York, North Carolina, and North Dakota all had numerous burglaries that occured in between these five years. However, New York and North Carolina had a tremendous amount compared to North Dakota. Burglary is classified as an “entry into a building illegally with intent to commit a crime, especially theft”. The crime I chose had the highest number in North Carolina, but the least number of burglaries were in North Dakota. This would because there is more empty land and less people in North Dakota than there is in North Carolina or New York. The second crime is aggravated assault, and the states it occured in the years of 2008-2013 were California, Colorado, Connecticut. Aggravate...

Week 8

Natalia Schack  Prof. Peter Lindmark Comm 200 Week 8 March 8, 2020 Mothers Work More Hours  Mothers work more than 300 more hours than they did in 1977, while fathers' work hours have not changed. According to the new Womens’ Institute, trends say that women pay rates have increased, but I also note that the pace will be kept the same with working families. The trends of the lack of time off has created gender inequality challenges for women in the workplace. There is technology that provides opportunities to better address time inequality between women and men. However, the pay still is distributed unevenly between the men and women. This occurs even if the women have the same job as the man in the job. This has created less accessible high paying jobs for these women. On this day women are recognized for their tremendous work and excellence throughout the years. March 8th is marked every year to honor these women show all of the great women who have come before....
