Do COMM Proffessors Communicate Organization?

Organization is an important part of daily life, and especially important for a Communications based career. I have always been organized and being organized helped me pick my career path. I am a NDSU student in my second year, studying Strategic Communications. In my time here I haven't really heard much about how COMM majors or even general students learning the basic knowledge of organization skills. Communications major do have a little bit of head start because they are required to take COMM 189 The skills of Academic Success . This class is for incoming freshman to help them be more successful in their first year at NDSU, other than that class; organization isn't taught. Most students are never taught organization and professor just assume that students know how to this. According to What To Become   30% of college students drop out after the first year because they are overwhelmed with course work. This is because the students can't keep ev...

Retro

Natalia Schack  Comm 200 Semester Retro May 11, 2020 Writing has always been a part of my career plan, however I can never find the right words to use to explain my writing. Writing and reading has been a problem I struggled with all through elementary school and some into middle school. Since then I have worked hard everyday to be at the same reading level as my peers. It wasn’t until this semester that I actually found my voice in my reading. I always thought that papers and articles needed to be literal and full of facts. I have come to find that I have way more fun writing when I am writing about something I am interested in. It is also easier when I can be sarcastic and pro or against something. Over the semester I have noticed that my writing got better and longer the more fun I had with it.  The first paper of the spring semester was about personal biases, and even as I skim over the paper I can tell that it isn't a really interactive paper. It read like an...

Social Media Slowly Killing Us Or Saving Us?  Social media has been on the uprise since 2011, and is going to continue to grow for the next centuries to come. Social media has been shaping the way we do things. This is because people are influenced by people who portray that they are better off. The millennial generation has made it a habit to only do things for social media to prove that they are living their best lives. When it comes to social media there isn't just one emotion or behaviors that is represented. However, social media has created negative connotations across all platforms and people. As I started to develop my ideas and search articles on social media I found that there were more negative connotations, then there were supporting ideas. According to Jessica Brown from BBC, there are tons of factors in life that are affected by social media. Those factors are stress, mood, anxiety, depression, sleep, addiction, self-esteem, relationships, and envy.  Stres...

Week 12 assignment

Natalia Schack Comm200 Prof. Peter Lindmark April 5th 2020 Broadcast 3/15/20 CoronaVirus Back at it Again The coronavirus(COVID) is spreading across the nation and is killing many people in its path. As of 3/15 the government has cut interest rates down to nearly nothing. Trump even spoke on the issue and how he agrees with the interest decreasing. There have been 3,100+ cases in the US and there have been 60 deaths. The government was not ready for this outbreak especially because Trump let go of the pandemic outbreak team that was set up by former President Barack Obama. The infectious disease president has been speaking around the US to help people learn how to sanitize and stay healthy. Airlines are one of the many things that are suffering. They have lost billions of dollars. People are swarming airports to try and get home so they can start their self quarantine. This is an issue since people are supposed to be avoiding large numbers of groups. They have cut off mil...

Week 11 News writing

Natalia Schack Comm 200 Prof Peter Lindmark March 29th 2020 Writing with voice and opinion is easy, however to find your voice within your writing isn't easy. I have struggled with finding what I am passionate about and then to write about it. One of the only things that comes easy to me is writing about politics. I am a democrat/liberal and I always will be. My parents have always raised my siblings and I with the mindset of making sure we can help whoever we can with our words or actions. I have always stood up for myself and others that could not. Words can speak louder than action, but only if they are used in the right way. I just do not agree with any of the things that republican follow or portray. With the politics side I like to use opinion based information. With this topic I want to write for the democratic or liberal audience because they will agree or relate with my writing, and hopefully they will want to help make a change in the world, or the government whi...

Week 11 Journal

Natalia Schack Comm200 Prof. Peter Lindmark March 27th, 2020 My choice of beat is going to be related to my current work situation. I currently work at Fleet Farm in Brooklyn Park, MN. I am a sales associate and recently portraying an internship in the marketing and HR department at Fleet Farm. I am really interested in helping others and making sure everyone gets the best experience they possibly can. I would definitely want to report on how businesses work and treat their employees. I know at my work place they do everything to ensure their employees are safe and getting what they need out of their jobs. I would connect with the HR employees, marketing employees, and the employees that work face-to-face with customers. I hope that this will lead me in the direction of my future career consulting companies and helping plan events and parties.  Derick Prelle CEO of Fleet Farm DerickPrelle@fleetfarm.com @butterflyequity.com @kkr.com media@fleetfarm.com. ...
