Week 3 Journal

To what extent do we learn these ideas of right & wrong from our environment?  To what extent is this morality intrinsic, i.e., present in us from birth? We start to learn right and wrong from birth. We learn these ideas based on how we were raised and who we are raised by. Initially, we do a task or thing and others tell us if it's right or wrong based on the result. We are also told about things that are wrong without having to do it. Kids especially learn from watching older people and their peers. If a child sees someone they know treat someone bad they might see that as okay. We learn right and wrong from birth and our environments.  Are there actions you believe are always morally wrong? Which actions? Why or why not? I believe that treating people like they are less than another is always morally wrong! This action is used called racism. I believe that everyone is equal and should be able to live life the way they would like too. I think this bec...

Week 2 News Writing

Natalia Schack  Prof. Peter Lindmark News Writing Week 2 January 26th, 2020 For this week’s New writing I chose Jenna Wortham, she speaks to me because she is a journalist who writes for the people. Jenna Wortham is also a journalist who still knows how to reach the younger audiences, and she hasn’t just wrote for just one platform she has written for multiple platforms. One of the reasons I follow her is that she is a female activist, and she shows and writes how women can be stronger in this society with technology and media. The thing I do not like about her writing is that she writes a lot from her point of view. This can be a good thing so people can understand what it is like, however, people like to read facts. One of the things that I really like about her writing is that she writes about all kinds of topics within technology and media. She covers how technology works and where they come to how much they cost in stores and how media affects that. Jenna Wortham has...

Week 2 Journal

All of these journalists are journalists online, but most based on twitter. These journalists write about how technology and social media are changing and influencing our everyday lives. The first journalist is Wesley Lowery is a journalist at the Washington Post. About 4 years ago he won the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting in 2016. He also has a strong background on twitter and other social media platforms. He attended Ohio University, and he was editor and chief of his campus newspaper. Wesley spent a lot of his career working on political pieces, however he said that it got to be too much for him to handle. He started using twitter and blogs to send out his articles and thoughts. https://berkleycenter.georgetown.edu/people/wesley-lowery   The second journalist is Kara Swisher is an american technology business journalist and cofounder of Recode. She received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University’s School and her graduate degree at Columbia University’s Sc...

Journal 1

Natalia Schack Prof. Peter Lindmark  January 17th, 2020 Journal 1  Being bias is all based on opinion, and the things you have learned that make you feel a certain way. All people are different so everyone has a different thought on how things are or should be. Most time peoples background makes these biases. This happens because everyone has a different experience that leads them to different opinions on a certain topic. Biases come from the way they were taught, this includes how and who they were taught by. Biases only affect the way people feel and think about topics that usually has two sides. They are usually pro and against. Biases are usually adapted from their superiors or guardians that have cared for the person. Changing the biases can be difficult because people like to think one way and they don't necessarily want to be wrong. Making diases stronger the person has to be really invested in the topic and really believes in it. To weaken a person's bias op...

Week 1 Newswritting

I Natalia Schack am a first year student at NDSU, however I am technically a sophomore credit wise. I am from Osseo, MN, and I chose NDSU because it has my field of study. I also have always wanted to attend because the campus always felt like home. I am taking this class because it is part of my pre-comm major, but I would also like to learn how to write and understand AP style writing. My major is Strategic Communications. After I graduate I hope to have my own practice of being an event manager. When I eat a PB&J sandwich I eat it just like a regular sandwich it is nothing special. One thing that I feel is unique is that I am super organized and I know where all of my stuff is located, and I set it up so it makes sense in my head. One things I am hoping to get out of this class is the skill of writing in AP style, and understand why they use it for article and journalism. For the question of, "what is your least favorite movie" I would say Old Boy. It was an extremely ...
